Barrera is among the fastest-rising junior middleweight prospects in the world. A Southern California native who trains out of the famed Robert Garcia Boxing Academy, he turned pro in August 2023 and won a pair of fights before making his Top Rank on ESPN debut in February 2024 with a first-round stoppage over Michael Portales.
Barrera improved to 9-0 in May with a sixth-round TKO over Juan Carlos Guerra Jr. on the Naoya Inoue-Ramon Cardenas undercard in Las Vegas.
